Dance of Oneness®: Body of Light | Workshop at Schweibenalp Center of Unity, Switzerland

Dance of Oneness®: Body of Light | Workshop at Schweibenalp Center of Unity, Switzerland

5-day workshop with live music by Raphael Duss and Bahri Egribas

Begin to live your dreams and create positive change in yourself and the world through sacred dance!

Open your being to the realization that you are light and here to bring light by coming in touch with your chakras and energy anatomy through luscious dance, stillness, chanting, wisdom teachings, play, lots of laughter and live music: Daf, Ney, Oud and Kamancheh on 2 days with master teacher of embodiment Banafsheh in one of the most beautiful and pristine sacred sites on our planet, high up in the alps.

Guided by Sufi teachings, explore the foundations of Dance of Oneness® and cultivate radiant presence in your body through a focus on the chakras. Tune into the wisdom of your body and begin to radiate more life force, joy and vitality. Transform the old rigidities, discomfort and disease that come from a mechanical way of being in your body.

The rigorous yet accessible technique of this 7-step process is based in Sufi ritual, Persian, Middle Eastern Tribal and contemporary dances, flamenco, Tai Chi and free-style dance—all of which awaken and nourish a different facet of being human. We will also explore the Sama or whirling as central to the embodiment of light. These modalities — all aspects of Dance of Oneness® – are designed to release blockages, ground, center, open your heart, promote flexibility, strength, exuberance and profound peace while serving as tools for being present, conscious, creative and in compassionate service.

The Center has wonderful accommodations including organic food that they grow on their own sustainable grounds. You will have ample time between our sessions that are 3 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon on most days to soak in the beauty and inspiration of this magical site, go for hikes, a swim and participate in the Center’s regular pujas including fire ceremonies.

Dance of Oneness® is dance as a spiritual path and a science of embodiment. A fusion of the art of dance: rigorous technique and self-expression; wisdom teachings; and healing, Dance of Oneness® draws from Sufi ritual and whirling, Persian dance, flamenco, tai chi, mystical teachings and the poetry of Rumi, divine feminine wisdom, Gurdjieff Work and Chinese Medicine.

You will learn:

  • Tools that make you strong yet gentle and graceful
  • Tools you can apply in your daily life to access peace, joy and lucidity regardless of the circumstance
  • How to be present

  • Fundamentals of grounding, centering and moving with grace
  • Elements of Persian dance

“I have never felt so held, so encouraged to explore my inner-most being. The gifts that I leave here with are impossible to enumerate. Banafsheh is a gift, a rare jewel who inspires and empowers all who come into contact with her. I am eternally grateful.”
Angel Caban, past workshop participant

“Banafsheh’s program is extraordinary – a complete arrangement of dance, music, meditation, focus, discipline and life experience. I’m not someone who connects with the holy that easily, but I felt holiness in Banafsheh’s art and that is what I truly revere and bow down before. After eight days, I felt an amazing level of energy, without pain anywhere and completely relaxed. Thank you for this gift, I will always guard it carefully in my heart.”

The time is NOW to connect deeply with what you truly love, to align yourself with Source energy and ignite your creative flame. In the changing face of our world in order to survive and be of true service, we need to be PASSIONATELY ALIVE and PRESENT.

Since “no one can truly light your flame for you and keep it alive”, says Rumi, “but yourself”, it is imperative to have a body/spirit-based practice that serves as a cauldron to nourish this flame. Dance of Oneness® is this kind of practice as it supports your living your fullest potential through loving your body and your Self, and living as a lover – a synthesis of Sufism, Tai Chi, Persian dance, flamenco and Middle Eastern tribal dances.

Join in a weave of guided and free-style dance set to world grooves, Rumi’s poetry, whirling, chanting, yoga, meditation, wisdom teachings from the East and West, a sharing circle and lots of laughter.

Through peaceful groundedness, empowered embodiment and passionate engagement and service, we live our flame to the extend that even chaos can feel like home.

All levels of experience are welcome. This workshop is at Hollyhock on Cortes Island, one of the most magical places on our planet.

Tuition: $545 CDN* | 5 nights (meals & accommodation extra)

I had a very powerful experience with this workshop. The warming and peaceful aura that Banafsheh glows with is so contagious. The poem by Rumi really resonated with me, as did the set of whirling. It truly is a moving meditation. Thank you, thank you so much.

Directions to Franklin Canyon Park Auditorium:

From the 101 Freeway, take Coldwater Canyon Boulevard south to the intersection of Coldwater Canyon and Mulholland Drive. Make a 90 degree right turn onto Franklin Canyon Drive. There is no street sign “Franklin Canyon.” Road signs read “Road Closed 800 Feet” and “Sunset to Sunrise”; this is the park entrance. Do not make a U-turn for this will bring you onto Mulholland Drive instead of Franklin Canyon. Stay on paved surface and park in the first parking lot which will be on your left hand side. From there follow the signs to the Sooky Goldman Nature Center. The Eugene Michael Rosenfeld Auditorium is next to the Nature Center.
From Sunset Blvd, turn north on Beverly Dr. Continue on Beverly Dr by veering left at “to Coldwater Cyn Dr” sign and left at intersection with Coldwater Cyn Dr (look for Beverly Hills Fire Station #2). Turn right on Franklin Canyon Dr. Go 1 mile and turn right on Lake Dr. Park at main lot at end of road. Continue north on Franklin Canyon Dr, past Lake Dr. Turn right at sign for William O. Douglas Outdoor Classroom. The Eugene Michael Rosenfeld Auditorium is next to the Nature Center.

Once in the park, make sure you make a FULL stop at the stop signs as they are monitored by cameras!! The auditorium is located next to the Nature Center, so if you are having a challenge finding it, look for signs leading you to the Nature Center. You may find this map helpful in finding your way.

Please don’t park in the lot next to the Nature Center as this is for staff only.
