Inside Dancing Saqi, the Muse
Saqi, the central female figure in Persian poetry and Miniature painting, is the Muse and cup-bearer who serves the wine of divine grace and the water of life and in so doing becomes intoxicated and ecstatic herself. Personifying sacred sensuality and grace, she brings revelations, inspiration and ecstasy.
Embody the grace of Saqi and receive her revelations through a weaving of the ethereal, sensual beauty of classical Persian dance, and Banafsheh’s contemporary fiery, fluid and grounded style.
Learn about Saqi from the Persian poets Rumi, Hafez and Khayyam who adored her.
In this 2-Part Series, Banafsheh will teach a short choreography based on the qualities of Saqi using the Persian alphabet postures she has created that enable you to dance out words and lines of poetry from the masters.
Course Audience: This Course is suitable for dancers who have studied with Banafsheh or have a background in Persian or Middle Eastern dances.
Certification: This Course counts as a foundational Dance of Oneness® course and fulfills 3 hours of the 200-hr Dance of Oneness® Certification Program.
