In In the Fire of Grace, Banafsheh interprets five stages of the soul’s archetypal journey to union with the Beloved in movement that marries as Rumi’s mystical vision does, the serene peace with the fierce gorgeous passion of the divine. She is accompanied by Andrew Harvey as the voice of Rumi, summoning her deeper into the flames of death and rebirth.

Andrew Harvey is the renowned mystical scholar, Rumi translator, poet, spiritual teacher, writer of over 30 books, and architect of Sacred Activism. Harvey’s Rumi is a thunderous, poignant Shakespeare of the soul, catching one unaware and making retreat impossible. The dances are illumined by discussions exploring the urgency of Rumi’s message to our turbulent world and the devastating, glorious paradoxes of the mystical journey.

“As an embodied mystic of the divine feminine, her presentations are not performances but transmissions which transform your vision of dance forever. Dancer and dance become one initiatory flame of grace.”

Andrew Harvey

“Part whirling dervish, part flamenco femme fatale, sensuous and audacious, Banafsheh’s dance is a mesmerizing foray into the body as trance mechanism; a DNA strand, supple, fluid and noble, come to life.”

World Premiere, Film screening, conversations on Rumi and our reality today, the first DVD Sales, and film photo exhibit.

Our Evening Together:
…Come meet Rev. Ed Bacon, Banafsheh Sayyad, and Andrew Harvey in a maiden screening of the film, In The Fire of Grace. A great sharing of Rumi’s message, and the great messages we have in our hands…with guest notables joining in on the Journey.

All guests are encouraged to flourish the gathering with Q&A.

A View:
This is a film not only rich in artful craft- luscious dance awash in colour, lovely in its peace, mad whirling wild and tossed in its ardor, and seethed with the moment fully experienced,
the sensitive and sensing, at times thundering stark delivery of poetry with a truth escaping time’s bounds, as drunkards in the tavern of love petitioning the jeweled messages for the human journey which unfolds as our experience-
it is also beautiful, poignant, warm, encouraging… an expression of Rumi’s invitation to life in joyous earnest. Our own dance is summoned to the fore by voices which beckon that which Rumi wishes for all of this world.

We welcome all to this Premier event, with deepest appreciation and Love from
Banafsheh Sayyad, Andrew Harvey, The Reverend J. Edwin Bacon, NAMAH, and All Saints Church.

We also can appreciate your arriving on a Monday evening! Please make allowances for traffic, and DO NOT MISS this warm and dynamic evening, for these messages to bring light on our events today.

In The Fire of Grace DVD, the first in public release, will be available for purchase. Photos from the film by Mehri Sahihi will be on exhibition.
